Greetings Morning Star Baptist Church Family and Friends:
I experience so many emotions when I think about the crucifixion of Christ Jesus. How is it that an innocent man was murdered? Why did no one intervene? Was there not one righteous person attending one of Christ’s seven unjust? Was there not one person of good moral conscience lining the Via Dolorosa, that painful and challenging route that Christ was forced to walk on His way to Calvary? The Bible speaks of none outside of Pilate, a non-believer who declared that he could find no fault in Jesus.
The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “In the end, it is not the words of our enemies that we will remember, but the appalling silence of our friends.” Silence speaks volumes. Silence is often a symptom of the existence of a deadly pathogen that denigrates the sanctity of life and the quality thereof. In this case, Georg Floyd and so many other innocent people of color having been killed without just cause, “silence is the new violence,” but I digress.
I thank God that early on that “Third Day Sunday Morning,” Jesus rose from the grave. Yes, the words of the Apostle Paul ring ever so true, “Oh death where is thy sting? Oh grave, where thy victory” (1 Corinthians 15:55)? Jesus rose with power and authority.
I am so glad that God the Father did not leave me at the crucifixion, for had He left me there, I would have no HOPE of tomorrow. Had the Father left me at the tomb, my faith would be suspect. But, God allowed me to see the Resurrected Christ, My Savoir, My Redeemer as the Living God, for He is The RISEN Lord! The Mighty King! The Prince of Peace! He is My Hope! He is My Comfort! He is My Deliverer! He is My All-In-All!
Is Jesus Your “Everything”? If not, do not allow this Easter Season to pass you by. Accept Christ as your personal Savior. Know that He desires to be your Hope, your Comfort, your Deliverer, your King. Confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ. Believe with your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and YOU SHALL BE SAVED!
The Resurrection is Truth,
Pastor John H. Whitfield
