Greetings Morning Star Baptist Church Family and Friends:
Last Sunday, we celebrated Father’s Day. We intentionally set aside some time to pay homage to those men who have stood in the gap and provided guidance, protection, love, support, compassion, and at times a listening ear.
Fatherhood has little to do with biology. Fatherhood has everything to do with love, commitment, and possessing a genuine concern for the hearts, souls, minds, and bodies of those little ones the Lord place in paths.
Men often get a bad rap. Society focuses on those men who fail to demonstrate genuine love and compassion for others. Society highlights those men who fail to remain committed to the cause of uplifting all humanity through love and service in Christ Jesus by loving and serving the “least of these” in the world.
I said on Sunday that men have a tough act to follow, referring to Mothers. But truth be told, men (true men) do a good job holding their own. They are the silent backbone of our communities. They are the protectorates of life and wellbeing. They are the solid rock on which God created all humanity. Let us never forget the sacrifice of Fathers, men who display genuine love and affection for all humankind. Let us pay homage to the Fathers in our lives every day of the year, giving them their flowers while they are blessed to receive them. Yes, ladies and children, men enjoy receiving flowers and all that they represent. So, share flowers of love, share flowers of encouragement in word, share flowers of concern. Let the Fathers in your life know that you care that you appreciate all they do, and that they make a difference in your life.
We love and cherish each of you. Please remain vigilant as it relates to COVID-19. Do not be foolish and let your guard down. God gave you a mind to think with and intellect to reason with, and therefore, He expects you to do that which is wise and prudent. We miss you more than words can express.
Yours in the Service of the Lord Jesus Christ, Pastor John H. Whitfield

Heavenly Father, you entrusted your Son Jesus, the child of Mary, to the care of Joseph, an earthly father. Bless all fathers as they care for their families. Give them strength and wisdom, tenderness and patience. Support them in the work they have to do, protecting those who look to them, as we look to you for love and salvation, through Jesus Christ our rock and defender ______________________ Honoryourfatherandyourmother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that your days may be long and that it may go well with you in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
